St. Louis Nonprofit The Little Bit Foundation is Supporting More Students Than Ever With an Assist from NetSuite

Handing out coats to schoolchildren in need nearly 20 years ago inspired Rosemary Hanley to start The Little Bit Foundation, a nonprofit that today provides thousands of students in St. Louis, Mo., with everything from new coats to dental hygiene kits to books, Uniforms, Glasses, shoes mentorships, medical services and food availability in food deserts. As it grew, the foundation discovered that it needed to be more sophisticated about tracking its business.

“Without the partnership that NetSuite has given us, we would not have had all the successes we’ve had.” Tim Hydar, director of distribution, The Little Bit Foundation

New System Powers Nonprofit's Impact

Growth stresses software systems
By 2016, The Little Bit Foundation was providing clothes and services to students at 22 schools, supporting more than 100 volunteers and managing $250,000 worth of inventory consisting of 400 SKUs. With an eye on continued growth, it was clear the organisation would need more mature technology.
Limited by inadequate technology
The Little Bit Foundation realised it was held back by the limitations of Quickbooks. The nonprofit was unable to provide school administrators with reports on the services it provided, couldn't predict students' needs and was bogged down by manual processes.
NetSuite provides platform for expansion
Since implementing NetSuite in 2016, The Little Bit Foundation has expanded to 42 schools, grown its volunteer ranks to 250, and doubled its order volume, all while cutting the time required to fill an order from eight minutes to two minutes.
Warehouse management, CRM on tap
Early success aside, The Little Bit Foundation has big plans for NetSuite. It's preparing to add NetSuite Warehouse Management System Lite for more efficient receiving and cycle counting of goods, and next year it will consider NetSuite CRM for donor management.
