Focus on Multi-facility Operators Powers Distributor’s Growth

While running a successful electrical business, John Francis realised the market needed a distributor who could serve the needs of businesses operating multiple facilities. The company quickly became a leading supplier of electrical switchgear and lighting for the dining, industrial and commercial construction industry.

Accuserv’s Accurate Service Wins Out

1

Adding services to distribution

Accuserv quickly came to realise that its customers, which include national restaurant and hotel franchises, needed help procuring more than just electrical supplies. The company added a services business that helps companies with flooring, fixtures, HVAC, branded uniform and, because of its central role, serves as a sort of construction project manager.

2

Warehouse expansion triples capacity

That strategy helped to fuel double digit growth for six straight years and expand from renting a 40,000-square-foot facility to building a 140,000-square foot warehouse. However, an antiquated AS 400-based system couldn’t handle Accuserv’s accounting and inventory management needs that was a drag on growth.

3

WMS boosts efficiency

Accuserv selected NetSuite over SAP and Microsoft Dynamics to manage accounting and inventory, later adding NetSuite WMS to manage its warehouse processes. Moving from a onetime carbon copy process to scanners, Accuserv replaced a physical inventory count for its 25,000 SKUs with automation and improved accuracy.

4

NetSuite journey continues

Bringing in an outside sales representative, Accuserv is expanding into construction and other industries and is planning to take advantage of NetSuite CRM. The company continues to expand its NetSuite footprint, recently adding payroll, with plans to add the SuitePeople HR solution in the near future.
